Admissions

How do I apply to ATI Batticaloa?+
Applications are submitted through the SLIATE online admissions portal at apply.sliate.ac.lk following the release of A/L results. Walk-in enquiries are also welcome during office hours.
What are the entry requirements?+
Applicants must have sat the GCE Advanced Level (A/L) examination. Admissions follow the SLIATE national selection process. Subject requirements vary by programme — contact us for the latest intake specifications.
When does the academic year begin?+
The academic year typically commences in the first quarter of each year, subject to SLIATE's national academic calendar. Check the Events page or contact the institute for the confirmed intake date.
Can I apply if I am from a different province?+
Yes. ATI Batticaloa accepts students from all provinces in Sri Lanka through the national SLIATE admissions process. Selections are merit-based.

Programmes & Courses

What programmes does ATI Batticaloa offer?+
ATI Batticaloa offers four Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes: HNDIT (Information Technology), HND in Accountancy, HND in English, and HND in Tourism & Hospitality Management.
How long are the HND programmes?+
Each HND programme is two years (four semesters) in duration, delivered through structured classroom sessions, practicals, and assessments.
What is the medium of instruction?+
All programmes are conducted in English. Students are expected to have a working proficiency in English, which the institute also actively supports through its English department.
Are SLIATE qualifications recognized?+
Yes. SLIATE qualifications are accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka and are part of the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF Level 5). HND holders may apply for degree top-up programmes at affiliated universities.

Fees & Funding

Are the programmes free of charge?+
Yes. ATI Batticaloa is a government institution under SLIATE and the Ministry of Education. All Higher National Diploma programmes are fully government-funded and free for eligible students.
Are there any registration or examination fees?+
Nominal examination fees may apply as per SLIATE policy. There are no tuition fees. Contact the institute for the current fee schedule.

Campus & Facilities

Where is ATI Batticaloa located?+
The campus is at Main Street, Kovilkulam, Arayampathy, Batticaloa, Eastern Province 30000, Sri Lanka.
What are the office hours?+
The institute is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Closed on public holidays and weekends.
Does the campus have a computer lab?+
Yes. The Department of Information Technology has a dedicated computer laboratory equipped for practical sessions. Lab access is provided to enrolled HNDIT students.
